Train Yourself To Get Up Earlier
If you’re a habitual ‘snooze-button addict’ like me, this might just do the trick. Try a month long alarm challenge: Each morning just set your alarm 2 minutes earlier so that in 30 days you’ll be waking up an hour earlier without even realizing it! And no snooze-cheating!
But First. . . Coffee (or tea)
I don’t care what the studies say, I love indulging in a simple ritual of coffee in the mornings. There’s something about the routine of a hot coffee in bed or cuddled up on the couch while the sun is just deciding to rise that I will never be able to get enough of. Make a Real Breakfast
Eggs and avocado toast have always been my go-to breakfast. Lately I’ll switch it up with a protein and flax green smoothie or some chia pudding. Food is fuel and what better way to have a kick-ass morning than the most delicious meal of the day. (in my opinion. I absolutely LOVE cereal, but unless it’s some Ezekiel 4:9, I don’t really keep it around – most is just a glorified bowl of sugar.) And if you’re a true avocado fan…
Set Your Intention For The Day
I am big on making a to-do list for the next day before I go to sleep. It stresses some people out to do this, but it relaxing me knowing I have the day planned. In the morning I’ll try to review, this is when you set an intention for the rest of the day. I also love purging all my ideas or thoughts from when I was dreaming or once I’m awake. I always have my notebook close by.
Read, Watch or Do Whatever Makes You Laugh or Happy
I saved the best for last… my favorite tip for having a great morning. LAUGH! It’s no secret I love to laugh and be goofy, so I always try to start my day of with a quick dose of endorphins: watching animal fail videos, people fail videos (this one had me crying with the commentary), dub over NFL players, news anchor fails (minute 4:30 people. minute 4:30) If you can’t handle that much laughter in the AM, but still want to set a positive tone for the rest of the day – reserve 10 minutes to indulge in whatever makes your soul happy. You deserve it!
