This week flew by! Which is good because that means I’m that much closer to leaving for Breckenridge, except I still have a ton of work to complete before I leave. I have no intention of bringing my computer or having my phone on during the trip, so if anyone wants to chat with me they’ll be S.O.L. I’ve had a pretty challenging couple of weeks and so I can’t think of a better time to skip town and hit the slopes. This weekend’s reading is full of useful posts and resources for healthier living (my favorite) and some fun posts to kick off the weekend on a positive note. If you follow me on twitter, you’ll know I’m a big fan of bulletproof coffee and we finally got on the brain octane train. Wow. If you’re ready to seriously upgrade your morning coffee game, Bulletproof Brain Octane is your golden ticket. I’ve been thinking so much about time lately. How to best use it, what it means and our relationship to it. I’m become a pretty nerdy lifehacker and I’m totally ok with it if it’s going to make me my happiest self.
| WEEKEND READING |
-This week I began charging my phone in the living room on silent. I have definitely noticed an improvement in my sleep. Seriously, stop using your smartphone in bed.
-I’m continuing to de-clutter our living space and I’ve noticed vast improvements in my anxiety/stress. My closet is down to less than 300 items (I haven’t done an exact count recently, but next week there will be a blog post about it including a handy free download for helping curate your perfect wardrobe!) and our kitchen/living room is slowly becoming much more efficient and paired down. This recent post on BBC on ‘stuffocation’: The hazards of too much stuff’ is pretty fascinating and eye-opening.
“They found that women who have issues with clutter have the signature pattern of cortisol that is associated with people who have chronic fatigue, post-traumatic stress disorder, and a higher risk of mortality.”- Smart People at UCLA
-It’s taken me 25 years, but I’ve finally gotten on good terms with food. I enjoy it and love it. I drink 2/3 cups of Butter Coffee a day and eat almost every food on this list except for beef and I’m not fat. So maybe consider adding a few of these into your diet. 8 Fatty Foods That Make You Skinny .
-This is a quick, but influential read. If you’ve ever struggled with feeling inadequate or the pressure to constantly be perfect, you’ll want to read ‘The Girl Who Saw Through The Illusions‘. I always struggle with this, but this read really made me think. If I’m going to be dedicated to finding happiness, I have to first allow myself to experience it rather than always protecting myself.
-A large part of my mission is to hack my productivity and free up more time to do the things I love that make me the happiest. This blog post is all about Habit Hacking and it’s pretty epic. ‘Habit Hacking: The Only 7 Thing You Can Control in Life to Start Living your Best Life Ever’ – by ZenHabits.
-Have you ever watched a documentary that completely changed your beliefs or thinking towards a certain subject? I am SO guilty of this and College Humor is pretty sure it happens way too often, ‘Why It’s Socially Unacceptable to Do Anything’ video.
-I hope this doesn’t happen to us next week: Snowboarder survives avalanche and captures it all on his GoPro
-What’s currently on my nightstand: ‘Think and Grow Rich’ by Napoleon Hill
Have a happy, productive and relaxing weekend!
